Short-Term Car Hire in Paphos
Short-term car hire covers most holidays and breaks: anything from our minimum of 72 hours up to a few weeks. Beyond that, monthly rental and leasing start to make more sense. This guide explains how short-term pricing works, how to choose the right length, and where the line falls. CHMI Rentals has served Paphos for over 23 years from Tombs of the Kings Avenue.
The Three Short-Term Rates
Our short rental rates are set for 3, 7 and 21 days, and the fleet page shows each car's price for those lengths. The longer the rental, the lower the price per day.
| Length | Good for | More |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days (72 hours) | A short break or a long weekend | Weekend car rental, daily car rental |
| 7 days | A one week holiday | Weekly car rental |
| 21 days | A long holiday or a slow start to a stay | This page |
Our minimum rental is 72 hours (3 days). If you need a car for less than that, a taxi or walking may suit you better.
When Short Term Ends and Monthly Begins
Once your stay reaches a month, a monthly rental is usually better value. Our long-term rental plans are aimed at stays of a month or more, and they include vehicle maintenance, road tax and a replacement car when one is available. From three months, a lease can be lower again. See our short-term car lease guide.
| How long you need the car | Best fit |
|---|---|
| 3 days to about 3 weeks | Short-term rental, priced at the 3, 7 or 21 day rate |
| A month or more | Monthly rental |
| Three months or more, and sure of it | Short-term lease |
| A year or more | Car leasing |
For example, the Nissan Note is €450 a month on monthly rental. The same car is €410 a month on a 3 to 6 month lease, €380 on 6 to 12 months and €300 on a 36 month lease. A lease is a fixed-term agreement and involves a basic credit eligibility check, which a rental does not.
Choosing the Right Length
- Count the days you really need a car. In Kato Paphos, the harbour, castle and promenade are walkable, so you may not need a car from day one.
- Compare the next rate up. A 3 day rental at a daily rate can cost more overall than a 7 day booking at the weekly rate. Check both.
- Allow for a delay. Extensions are possible subject to availability, but plans are easier if you choose a little longer.
- Remember the return time. A late return carries an hourly delay fee.
What Is Included
- Third-party insurance. The renter is responsible for damage and theft, subject to the excess limits in the agreement.
- Unlimited mileage. See our unlimited mileage guide.
- Free delivery and a ride to your hotel, villa or home in Paphos town, at Paphos Airport and in Chloraka, Kissonerga, Peyia, Coral Bay, Tala, Empa and Mesa Chorio, when you rent with us. Book 24 hours before.
- Not included: fuel. Return the car with the same level you received. Petrol is non-refundable.

Cancellations and Changes
After the contract is signed, refunds cannot be given, and if the car is returned before the agreed time, a refund cannot be given. That is why it pays to choose your length carefully. To extend, contact us as early as you can. Our no hidden fees page lists every obligation in our terms.
How Booking and Handover Work
- Choose your car and dates on the fleet page. The minimum rental is 72 hours.
- Book at least 24 hours before if you want delivery to your hotel, villa or home, or a handover at the airport.
- Bring your documents: a valid driving licence, your passport or ID, and cash or a credit card in the renter's name.
- Meet your agent at the airport arrivals terminal, at your accommodation, or collect from our shop.
- Sign, pay and leave your passport as security, as set out in our terms.
- Return the car on time with the same fuel level. Returns are during shop hours, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm.
What You Need to Rent
- A valid driving licence. Drivers must be over 21, or have at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Your passport or ID, which is left as security under our terms.
- Cash or a credit card. Debit cards are not accepted, and you do not need a credit card if you pay in cash. See renting without a credit card.
What to Check at Handover
- Confirm the fuel level matches your rental agreement.
- Photograph any existing scratches or dents before you leave the pickup area.
- Check that the insurance excess and your documents are as agreed.
- Adjust the seat, mirrors and steering position, and find the indicators and wipers.
- Set your satnav before you move off, not while driving.
