Larnaca Airport to Paphos: Your Options by Car, Rental or Transfer
Many flights to Cyprus land at Larnaca International Airport (LCA), even when the holiday is in Paphos. Larnaca sits on the south-east coast, while Paphos is on the south-west, so the journey crosses much of the island. It is a straightforward drive on the motorway, but it is not short, and it is worth planning. This page compares the options, explains the drive, and shows how CHMI Rentals can help with a rental car or a group transfer.
Why Travellers From Larnaca Choose CHMI
- We take you from Larnaca Airport to Paphos when you rent with us.
- Free of charge, and straight to your hotel, villa or home if you prefer, not only the shop.
- A minibus for groups on request. Call the shop to discuss the size and details.
- No credit card needed. You can pay in cash.
- Return the car in Paphos at the end of your stay.
Arriving at Larnaca and staying in Paphos means a long journey at the end of a flight. Having someone meet you and take you the rest of the way, then handing you the car, removes the hardest part of arriving.
The Journey at a Glance
| Detail | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Distance | Around 134 km |
| Drive time | About 1 hour 30 minutes on the A1 and A6 motorways in normal traffic |
| Road type | Modern motorway for most of the way, then coastal roads near Paphos |

Allow extra time for collecting baggage, completing paperwork and stops. If you are arriving on a late flight, remember you will be driving a long distance after travelling, so consider resting first.
Three Ways to Get From Larnaca to Paphos
1. Self-drive rental car
The most flexible option. We can arrange delivery or pick-up for incoming Larnaca flights so you can drive straight to your Paphos accommodation, and keep the car for your whole stay, then return it in the Paphos area. Drop-off at Larnaca Airport is possible for a charge; call the shop to arrange it. No credit card is required; see our no credit card page.
2. Private minibus transfer
Best for larger groups, families with heavy luggage and travellers who prefer not to drive after a flight. Minibus transfers are offered to customers who also rent a car with us, for example a group transfer from Larnaca to Paphos followed by a rental for the rest of the stay. Contact us with your group size, dates and flight details to confirm how it works, or read our airport transfer service guide.
3. Taxi, shuttle or public bus
Airport shuttles and buses run between the main cities, but timetables and luggage handling vary. They can suit solo travellers on a budget. Check schedules in advance, especially for late arrivals.
Which Option Is Right for You?
| Your situation | Best option |
|---|---|
| Couple or small family wanting a car all week | Rental car |
| Group of 5 to 8 with luggage | Nissan X-Trail or minibus transfer |
| Late arrival and tired | Transfer, then rent in Paphos later |
| Staying for a month or more | Long-term rental |
| Landing directly at Paphos | See Paphos Airport |
Driving the A6 Motorway: Tips
- Traffic drives on the left; motorway speed limits are in kilometres per hour.
- Keep to the left lane except to overtake.
- Fill up before you start; petrol stations are spaced out.
- Take a break if you feel tired; there are service points along the route.
- Set your satnav to your accommodation before you leave the airport.
- Use a phone holder, not your hand, for navigation.
Places to Stop on the Way
The motorway passes close to Limassol, the island's second city, which makes a natural stop for coffee or lunch, a walk along the seafront promenade or a visit to the marina. Beyond Limassol, the road continues west along the coast towards Paphos, and you can turn off for the coast road to Petra tou Romiou, the rock said to be Aphrodite's birthplace, if you have time.
Rental Terms for a Cross-Island Trip
- Vehicles carry third-party insurance; the renter is liable for damage or theft subject to the excess limits.
- The renter must be the named driver on the contract.
- A passport is left as security under our terms.
- Off-road driving, the Akamas region and Northern Cyprus are not permitted.
- Fuel should be returned at the same level as received.
