Family Car Hire in Paphos
A family holiday puts more demands on a rental car than a couple's weekend. There are car seats to fit, pushchairs and beach bags to load, and children who need the air conditioning working before anyone gets in. This guide explains which of our cars suit families of different sizes, how child seats work, how delivery saves you a trip with tired children, and what our terms mean for a family trip. CHMI Rentals has served Paphos for over 23 years from Tombs of the Kings Avenue.
Which Car for Your Family?
Start with how many people are travelling and how much luggage you have. Every passenger car in our fleet is an automatic with air conditioning.
| Your family | Our suggestion | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Two adults and one child | Toyota Vitz or Suzuki Swift | Small, easy to park and the lowest cost |
| Two adults and two children | Nissan Note or Honda Fit | Legroom, cargo space and versatile seats |
| A family with a lot of luggage | Nissan X-Trail | Our roomiest car, with a large boot |
Our four compact hatchbacks are 2020 automatics with five seats, air conditioning, a radio and a USB port. Our fleet listing describes the Nissan Note as a comfortable hatchback with extra legroom and cargo capacity, ideal for small families, and the Honda Fit as offering versatile seating and excellent comfort. For more space and a bigger boot, the Nissan X-Trail is our SUV.
Our Compact Family Cars Compared
| Car | Best for | Monthly rental |
|---|---|---|
| Nissan Note | Legroom and luggage space | €450 |
| Suzuki Swift | An agile car with Bluetooth | €540 |
| Honda Fit | Comfort and versatile seating | €650 |
| Toyota Vitz | A small, easy-to-park city car | €650 |
For daily and weekly prices, see the price table at the top of this page, or choose your dates on the fleet page. Our short rental rates are set for 3, 7 and 21 days, and the longer the rental, the lower the price per day.
Child Seats
We provide baby seats, child safety seats and booster seats on request. Tell us the ages and heights of your children when you book, so we can prepare the right seats. They come with the car, whether we hand it over at the airport, your hotel, your villa or the shop.
- Request seats at booking, not on the day.
- Check each seat is fitted correctly before you drive off.
- Everyone wears a seat belt, including rear passengers.
- Never leave children alone in a parked car, particularly in summer.
- Keep water and a sun shade in the car for summer drives.
Luggage and Pushchairs
Airport day is when space matters most. Two large suitcases, hand luggage and a pushchair will fill the boot of a small hatchback. If that sounds like your family, choose the Nissan Note for its cargo space, or the Nissan X-Trail for its large boot. Soft bags pack more easily than hard cases. If you are not sure it will all fit, tell us how many people and bags you have and we will advise.
Getting the Car Without Dragging Everyone Along
Collecting a rental car with children in tow is nobody's idea of a holiday. When you rent with us, we can deliver the car to your hotel, villa or home, free of charge, in Paphos town, at Paphos Airport and in Chloraka, Kissonerga, Peyia, Coral Bay, Tala, Empa and Mesa Chorio. Please book 24 hours before. Further out, call the shop; delivery there has an extra charge.
- At the airport: our agent meets you outside the arrivals terminal, and airport delivery runs 24 hours. See Paphos Airport car hire.
- At your hotel: see hotel car delivery.
- At your villa: see villa car delivery.
Family Days Out From Paphos
Mileage is unlimited on our rentals, so you can plan days out without watching the distance. Fuel is not included.
- Kato Paphos harbour. Park once and walk between the harbour, the castle and the promenade. Go early or late in summer to avoid the midday heat.
- Coral Bay. A sandy beach north of Paphos with sunbeds and tavernas. Arrive early in summer to find shade.
- Petra tou Romiou. The rock on the coast road east of Paphos, a good stop on the way along the south coast.
- Tombs of the Kings. An easy morning trip, a few minutes from our shop, before the heat builds.
- Polis and Latchi. A longer drive for waterfront lunches and boat trips. It is outside our free delivery area.
Keep it on paved roads
Our terms do not allow off-road driving, dirt tracks, the Akamas region or Northern Cyprus, and damage there voids cover. If the Akamas is on your list, a licensed jeep safari or a boat trip from Latchi is the safe alternative.
Who Can Drive
Drivers must be over 21, or have at least 3 years of driving experience. Only the renter who signed the contract may drive, so if two parents plan to share the driving, discuss it with us at booking. The holder of a provisional licence is not allowed to carry passengers, which rules out a family trip on that licence.
What to Bring
- A valid driving licence, and an International Driving Permit if your licence needs one.
- Your passport or ID. The passport is left as security and returned with the car, as set out in our terms.
- Cash or a credit card in the renter's name. No credit card is needed. See renting without a credit card.
Rental Terms Worth Knowing
- The minimum rental is 72 hours.
- Vehicles carry third-party insurance, and the renter is responsible for damage or theft subject to the excess limits. Our car rental insurance guide explains what that means.
- Return the car with the same fuel level you received. Petrol is non-refundable.
- Late returns carry an hourly fee as set out in the contract.
- After the contract is signed, refunds cannot be given.
