SUV Leasing in Paphos: A Monthly Plan for the Car You Will Use
If you live in or around Paphos, an SUV is not a luxury. Villages such as Tala, Empa and Peyia sit on hillsides, the shops are a drive away, and a family car has to cope with school runs, supermarket trips and weekend drives along the coast. Renting an SUV by the day works for a holiday. Leasing one gives you the same car for months or years at a fixed monthly figure that is lower than a monthly rental.
This guide covers the SUVs on our lease price list, what they cost at each term, how leasing compares with renting the same car, and what to check before you sign. CHMI Rentals has served Paphos for over 23 years from Tombs of the Kings Avenue, and the figures below come from our own price list.
The SUVs You Can Lease
Two SUVs are on our current lease price list, both the Nissan X-Trail. Both are automatic.
| Car | What it suits | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Nissan X-Trail (2017) | Families and drivers who cover longer distances | Automatic, with air conditioning, GPS navigation, Bluetooth and a large boot. |
| Nissan X-Trail (2020) | Larger families and groups | A premium cabin, with GPS navigation and Bluetooth. |
Fleet availability changes over time, so confirm the exact car and model year when you ask for a quote.
Why Lease an SUV Instead of Renting One?
The difference is price and predictability. Our price list shows a monthly rental figure and a lease figure for each car, and the lease is lower in every case. For the Nissan X-Trail (2017), monthly rental is €800 and the 36 month lease is €590, a saving of €210 every month. For the Nissan X-Trail (2020), monthly rental is €1,500 and the 36 month lease is €910, a saving of €590 every month.
- Lower monthly cost. The longer the term, the lower the figure. The X-Trail (2017) is €770 on a 3 to 6 month lease, €710 on 6 to 12 months, €670 on 24 months and €590 on 36 months.
- One payment you can plan around. The monthly amount is fixed for the term, so you can budget for it.
- Servicing covered. Our leases include two free full services and one tyre change during the term.
- No purchase price to find. You do not tie up capital in a car that loses value, which is why some businesses prefer leasing.
The trade-off is commitment. A rental can be ended when your plans change, while a lease is a fixed-term agreement. If you are unsure how long you will stay, start with a long-term monthly rental and move to a lease once you know.
Which Term Should You Choose?
- 3 to 6 months suits a season or a temporary contract. It has the highest monthly figure. See our short-term car lease guide.
- 6 to 12 months suits a year in Cyprus or a project with a clear end date.
- 24 months suits residents who plan to stay and want a lower monthly cost without the longest commitment.
- 36 months gives the lowest monthly figure. For the X-Trail (2017) that is €590 a month, or €21,240 over the full three years.
Work out the total as well as the monthly amount. A lower monthly figure on a longer term is only better value if you will really keep the car for the full period.
SUV or Compact?
Bigger is not always better. A large SUV costs more each month, uses more fuel and is harder to park in the narrow streets around Kato Paphos. If you mostly drive alone or as a couple, a compact automatic from our lease list will do the job for less. If you regularly carry a family and its luggage, the Nissan X-Trail gives you the most room. For a visit of a week or two, a rental is simpler than a lease, and our Nissan X-Trail hire page covers that.
If you only need an SUV for a holiday, SUV rental in Paphos is the better fit. Leasing makes sense once you need the car for months.
Living on the Coast or in the Hills
The extra height and boot space of an SUV help most where you live outside town. Families in Coral Bay and Peyia deal with hillside streets and beach gear all summer. Residents of Tala and Empa and Mesa Chorio drive into town for almost everything. We deliver to residents across Paphos and the surrounding villages, so you do not need to collect the car from the shop.
Check where the car may be driven
An SUV is still a road car. Our rental terms do not allow off-road driving, the Akamas region or the northern part of Cyprus, and damage there is not covered. Ask us to confirm the usage terms in your lease agreement before you sign.
What You Need to Apply
Leasing is open to private individuals and companies. A basic credit eligibility check and proof of steady income or business registration are required. Individuals bring a valid driving licence, passport or ID, and proof of address and income. Companies bring business registration documents, a VAT certificate and corporate bank statements. There is a refundable deposit of €900 on the Nissan X-Trail.
Lease payments can be recognised as a business operating expense, which may reduce corporate tax. Ask your accountant how this applies to your company.
What Happens at the End of the Lease
At the end of the term you can return the SUV and move to a newer car, extend your lease, or buy the car at an agreed price. If buying is your goal, look at our sales and finance options as well, or compare with a Japan car import if you want a specific model.
