Van Hire in Paphos: The Ford Transit Cargo Van
Sometimes a car is not enough. Furniture, boxes, building materials, stock for a shop or equipment for an event all need a van. CHMI Rentals has a 2018 Ford Transit cargo van for hire in Paphos, for moving, heavy deliveries, commercial transport and bulky cargo. This guide explains what the van is like, who it suits, how the price works and what to know before you drive it. CHMI Rentals has served Paphos for over 23 years from Tombs of the Kings Avenue.

Our fleet listing describes it as a spacious and dependable Ford Transit commercial panel van, ideal for moving, heavy deliveries, commercial transport and bulky cargo across Cyprus. The side sliding door makes loading easier where the space behind the van is tight, and the parking sensors help when you reverse up to a door or into a loading bay.
What People Hire the Van For
- Moving house or flat. Furniture, appliances and boxes in fewer trips. See our moving van hire guide.
- Collecting a big purchase. A sofa, a bed or garden furniture from a shop or a private seller.
- Business deliveries. Stock, samples or goods to customers around Paphos and beyond.
- Trades and projects. Tools and materials for a job, when your own vehicle is too small.
- Events and markets. Stands, tables and equipment for a weekend.
- Clearing out. Taking unwanted items to a recycling point or storage.
A cargo van, not a people carrier
The Transit has three seats in the front and the rest is cargo space. It is not for carrying passengers in the back. For a family or a group, look at our cars instead, such as the roomy Nissan X-Trail.
How the Price Works
The van is priced like our cars: it has a set price for 3, 7 and 21 days, and the days in between are worked out from the nearest set price. The table at the top of this page shows the current figures. The minimum rental is 72 hours, which suits most moves and projects, since loading, driving and unloading rarely fit into one day.
Mileage is unlimited, so a trip to Limassol and back does not change the price. Fuel is not included. The van runs on diesel, so fill it with diesel, not petrol, and return it with the same fuel level you received.
Need the van for months rather than days? See van leasing and long-term van hire for monthly figures.
Van Rental for Businesses
Many of our van customers are businesses. A company that needs a van for a project, a season or a year can rent it by the month or lease it, and lease payments can be recognised as a business operating expense. Ask your accountant how this applies to you. See long-term van rental for monthly terms, and our Ford Transit van hire page for the full vehicle details.
Driving a Manual Van
Every passenger car in our fleet is an automatic. The Transit is the exception: it is our only manual. If you have not driven a manual for a while, or have never driven a van, take the first few kilometres slowly.
- It is longer and taller than a car. Watch low branches, balconies, car park barriers and height limits.
- Use the mirrors. A panel van has no rear window view, so the door mirrors and the parking sensors do the work.
- Brake earlier when loaded. A full van takes longer to stop.
- Take the hills steadily. Hill starts in a loaded manual van need a little more care on the roads to Peyia, Tala and the villages.
- Drive on the left. Limits are in kilometres per hour, and roundabouts go clockwise.
Loading Safely
- Put the heaviest items low and against the bulkhead behind the seats.
- Tie loads down or pack them tight so nothing slides when you brake.
- Wrap furniture in blankets to protect it and the inside of the van.
- Do not overload the van. If you are unsure whether something will fit or is too heavy, ask us before you book.
- Keep the sliding door and the rear doors closed and locked while driving.
Licence and Driver Rules
In Cyprus, as across the EU, a standard category B car licence covers vans up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass. Ask us to confirm the licence category for our van when you book. Drivers must be over 21, or have at least 3 years of driving experience. Only the renter who signed the contract may drive, and a provisional licence holder may not carry passengers.
What to Bring
- A valid driving licence, and an International Driving Permit if your licence needs one.
- Your passport or ID. The passport is left as security and returned with the van, as set out in our terms.
- Cash or a credit card in the renter's name. No credit card is needed. See renting without a credit card.
- A refundable deposit applies, and the amount depends on the vehicle category.
Rules of the Road for the Van
- Vehicles carry third-party insurance, and the renter is responsible for damage or theft subject to the excess limits. See our car rental insurance guide.
- Paved roads only. Off-road driving, dirt tracks, the Akamas region and Northern Cyprus are not permitted.
- Lock the van whenever it is parked. Lost or broken keys are the renter's responsibility.
- The renter pays traffic fines, including parking fines while loading.
- Late returns carry an hourly fee as set out in the contract.

When you rent with us, we can deliver to your home or business in Paphos town, at Paphos Airport and in Chloraka, Kissonerga, Peyia, Coral Bay, Tala, Empa and Mesa Chorio, free of charge. Please book 24 hours before. Further out, call the shop; delivery there has an extra charge. You can also collect the van from our shop. See car delivery to your door.
